Population recording with high density electrode arrays in head-fixed mice

We utilize 64 – 128 channel electrode arrays in various configurations from UCLA, Cambridge Neurotech, Diagnostic Biocships and Neuronexus.

In vivo patch clamp in head-fixed mice

In combination with local field potential recording and behavioral monitoring we are able to register the membrane potential dynamics of neurons in both cortical and deep subcortical regions (e.g. hippocampus, median raphe) coupled to brain / behavioral states.

Selective manipulations of neurons by optogenetics

We deploy both activators and inhibitors (Channelrhodopsin2, ArcheorhodopsinT, SwiChR++) introduced by transgenic techniques or viral gene transfer.

High-speed 3D behavioral tracking by multi-camera motion capture

The OptiTrack system is designed to perform the finest 3D motion capture for movies, but above the artistic purpose - particularly because of it's preciseness - it has great utility in scientific research too. With the multiple camera configuration, we can accurately follow the marked animal spatiotemporally and record even the slightest move which may have behavioural relevance. Paired with electrophysiological methods, it is a gerat tool to study manifest behaviour parallel to brain activity.
